LDF - Core Strategy
What stage is the Core Strategy at in Brighton & Hove?
On 5 February 2010, the city council published the Proposed Submission [PDF 1.09mb] version of its Core Strategy and a number of supporting documents, prepared as part of the Local Development Framework (LDF). This latest version of the document is published under Regulation 27 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendments) Regulations 2008.
Before the council can submit this document to the Secretary of State the council must publish and make available the documents it proposes to submit in order for representations to be made. The documents are available on the council website and can be viewed at the public deposit points and libraries listed in the Statement of Proposals Matters which is attached
What is the Core Strategy?
The Core Strategy is the planning document that provides the overall strategic vision for the future of Brighton & Hove through to 2026. It will set out how the council will respond to local priorities, meet the challenges of the future and identify the broad locations, scale and types of development needed together with the supporting infrastructure.
It addresses important city-wide matters such as delivering more sustainable development and neighbourhoods and sets out the council’s strategic approach to housing, the economy, shopping and transport.
What previous Core Strategy documents have been published for consultation?
The city council has carried out extensive community and stakeholder involvement in order to reach this current stage in the development of the Core Strategy. The council website allows you to view all these previous documents
Sustainability Appraisal
Each previous stage in Core Strategy production has been subject to a Sustainability Appraisal. All of these reports are available to be downloaded from the Brighton & Hove web site.
